 Introduced in 1969, the Triumph TR6 filled the gap formerly occupied by the Austin-Healey 3000 between the 4-cylinder MGB and the more expensive 6-cylinder Jaguar XKE. It continued the evolution of the British sports car from the spindly wire-wheeled, side-curtained pre-war carry-overs to modern, envelope-bodied, disc-braked, reasonably robust fun transportation for two. Of the TR6, Sports Car Market magazine wrote, "Though not as curvaceous as a Big Healey, the Triumph's lines were modern, handsome and at the same time traditionally British with its wooden dashboard fascia. The solid underpinnings, with front disc brakes and independent suspension front and rear, make the TR-6 a predictable, user-friendly performer with mild understeer and good (but fairly high effort) brakes." Triumph did well with the TR6 selling 94,619 examples from 1969 to 1976, (9,113 in 1975). With a large number of TR6s sold, parts are readily available from British car specialists. This particular 1975 model is finished in Pimento Red with black interior and convertible top. The 2.5 l 6 Cylinder Engine starts and runs smoothly. The fully synchromesh 4 Speed Gearbox Shifts Smoothly with no sign of a grind. Everything has been redone so that the car looks and drives as new. The black interior, carpets, door panels, wood dash, gauges etc are excellent. There are only a couple of faults with this car. One is that the convertible top was pinched in the mechanism and has a 1/2 inch cut and 2 small punctures on the driver's side. The top is otherwise excellent with a clear plastic rear window. Secondly, there is a half dollar-sized bump in the bonnet perhaps from being closed while a tool rested on top the engine. Overall, this is a great example of a classic British sports car that will deliver many miles of pleasurable driving.
