1970 Lincoln Continental Mark III two-door coupe
1970 Lincoln Continental Mark III - 2DR Coupe
This is a great running vintage luxury car with an
original, strong 460 Big Block high compression engine
(Factory 365 HP, 500 Ft. Lbs. Torque,
10.5:1 Compression Ratio).
This engine has the very desirable original DOVE heads.
It has a C-6 automatic transmission.
Within the last year and a half,
I have purchased and installed four new tires,
a new battery and alternator,
and a new power steering pump with new hydraulic hoses.
I had the original radiator re-built and
installed new coolant hoses, including the heater hoses.
In 1999 I installed a rebuilt FOMOCO four barrel carburetor,
and I had the complete exhaust system replaced
with factory style 2-1/2 inch dual pipes
(including the "H" pipe),
with Flowmaster 70 Series mufflers.
Super sounding without a lot of noise!
The body is super straight with the original dark green paint,
which was repainted sometime in the Seventies.
The color has mellowed to a charcoal gray.
It originally had a white vinyl top, which I removed,
as I had a feeling there was rust underneath.
There is rust along the bottom edges of the roof,
along with a little bit behind the left rear tire.
There is only one dent on this car,
also behind the left rear tire.
The interior has genuine walnut on the instrument panel.
The seats are a light green cloth and vinyl,
which has faded to a tan/gold color.
The cloth upholstery has the typical tears expected
after 37 years of use.
This car is factory equipped with a speedometer,
oil pressure gauge, engine temperature gauge,
amp gauge, and a Cartier clock.
Everything works except the amp gauge;
the clock does work,
but the mechanism probably needs cleaning.
A/C does not work.
A new heater core was installed a couple of years ago,
but I don't think that it is putting out as much heat
as it should.
It has the original factory AM/FM stereo radio,
which works occasionally
(the speakers are dried from age).
The driver's window works,
the passenger's window does not move,
although the motor turns;
I believe the plastic gears are worn
(I lift and lower the passenger's side window manually).
All lighting works, and the hydraulic wipers work.
This car is currently registered here in New Mexico,
and has a clear title.
Price: Asking $1,800.
I also have a 1970 Lincoln Mark III parts car
for additional $$$.
