Being offered for sale is this very nice recreation of an original 1969 Chevy El Camino SS. The El Camino has only had 3 owners during its lifetime and is believed to be an original southern California vehicle. The second owner was an auto shop instructor at a local college that began the restoration as a project for his students. The vehicle is known to be continuously garaged and sparingly driven for at least the last 25 years. Exterior: Preparation for the stunning finish was correctly prepped by bringing all body panels to bare metal prior to the application of Dupont Jet Black Imron and the custom white, yellow, and red flames on the front grille and hood areas. The entire car was buffed and hand painted medium blue pin striping was applied. The paint is solid, done right and great looking. According to the owner, after 5 years, there have been no touch ups required as the car has been secured in his garage and only infrequently driven in good weather to a few local cruise-ins and car shows. All body panels are straight with uniform hood, door, and tailgate gaps. Chrome and stainless trim pieces are shiny and without dings or blemishes. Interior: The comfortable cabin features a bench seat with new cloth inserts and new carpet installed 2 years ago. The original padded dashboard is in good condition and without any blemishes. The door panels are original with SS badges and in remarkable condition for the age of the vehicle. All gauges, lamps, "idiot" lights, and other instruments are fully functional. This El Camino is well optioned featuring power steering, tilt steering wheel, power front disc brakes (drums in the rear), power windows, power door locks, The instrument panel has a bit of dust inside the plexiglass cover. The owner chose not to hack the dash or disturb the original factory AM FM radio, opting for a custom made console to house the high-end Kenwood stereo system, speakers and auxiliary gauges. Rounding out the sound system is a Custom Autosound Corvette SOUNDBAR installed behind the seat. A high-end alarm system keeps everything secure. Other than that, the interior of the car is mostly original appearing with very tasteful upgrades. Engine and Driveline: The Chevy 350 engine has been professionally rebuilt with a mild cam and has less than 5,000 miles on it. It has plated headers, aluminum intake manifold, 4 bbl carb, and a new chrome water pump. The TH400 Transmission was professionally rebuilt less than 3 years ago and has less than 1,000 miles on it. The dual exhaust system has less than 4,000 miles, The entire brake system was professionally rebuilt with a new master cylinder 3,000 miles ago, the battery is 2 years old, The suspension is stock, with the exception of the air shocks installed years ago in the rear. The heater is not connected and only needs the 'bib' fitting of the water pump to hook up. The entire drivetrain is solid and reliable. Wheels and Tires: Cragar S/S chrome wheels are mounted with Goodrich T/A radials. Front tires: P23560RX15; Rear Tires: P9550R X15. This is a straightforward, show quality, mostly original, driver that is absolutely rust free and can be driven anywhere. You have the opportunity to leave and enjoy it as a mild, muscle car weekend driver or transform into a wild big block, fire breathing asphalt burner! PRICE REDUCED!
