The third generation 1968 Chevy II / Nova models were fully redesigned with an extensive restyle on a longer 111-inch wheelbase that gave Chevy's compacts a chassis that was just one inch shorter than that of the midsize Chevelle coupe. The '68-'72 models were the last GM cars that had that classic solid Body-By-Fisher feel that those of us who grew up in the 60s knew so well. These cool compacts quickly became defined as a "plain brown wrapper" for your choice of Chevrolet engines; and what a choice there was, more than any other car ever built. Factory choices started with a 90 hp four cylinder, ended with a 375 hp L-89 396 Big Block; and in between just about every Chevy motor in production. This is an all original and un-restored example of a 1968 Chevy II / Nova Coupe that has been in the same family since it was originally purchased in January 1968 from June Chevrolet in Metuchen, New Jersey. The odometer correctly shows 38,400 original and documented miles. Exterior: Always garage kept from day-one, the car is equipped with its original and extremely solid floors, body panels, trunk, firewall, etc. with no signs of rust or other deterioration. All body panels are "arrow" straight with uniform gaps. The original Seafrost Green Poly finish shows incredibly well for the years with all stainless, chrome trim and bumpers in like new condition. Interior: The original black vinyl interior features a bench seat and "3 on the tree" (column) shifter for the 3-speed manual transmission. The dash, instrument panel and trim, steering column and wheel, seating surfaces, door panels, headliner, carpets, rear package shelf and trunk are in excellent condition with very little if any indication of wear. All lighting and instrumentation is in working condition. An upgraded modern AM/FM digital stereo radio was added with no modifications to the car or OEM specs (USA-630 240 watt, with USB hookup for MP3, and music selection, premium original replacement dual voice coil high output front speaker and CAM 6x9 3 way 200 watt high output rear speakers). Engine and Driveline: The original numbers matching 230 cu. in. 140 hp In-line 6 Cylinder, Turbo Thrift Engine is backed by the 3-speed manual Saginaw SM326 transmission. All components are in excellent operating order with no unusual noises, leaks or drips. The suspension is sound and provides a solid and comfortable ride. Wheels and Tires: Factory steel wheels and "dog dish" hubcaps are shod with white wall bias ply tires. The owner will provide all the original paperwork and documentation: 1968 Chevy II Nova Owner's Manual, GM Chevrolet Warranty Card and Booklet, Original Bill of Sale, NJ Registration Card (Jan-68), Dealer thank you card and $.05 stamped envelope, Chevy QA inspection check list, dealer invoices and tags, and Bank Draft receipt from payment. This '68 Nova will get you thumbs up and turn heads wherever you drive it; whether left in its factory stock condition, accurately cloning it into a SS Big Block terror or creating that award winning Restomod capable of popping eyeballs and blowing the doors off the competition.
