With only 12 factory lightweights produced in 1963, few of us will ever see one, let along drive one. In these circumstances, a 1963 E-type modified as a lightweight is the best way to experience the look and feel of the original. This car has been awarded FIA papers including documented competition history in the late '80's in Germany. The car offered here was converted to lightweight form in 1987 in the UK. It is a roadster/hardtop with fixed alloy top. The bonnet, top, doors and boot lid are aluminum. Side windows, rear window and headlight covers are Perspex. The car sits on 15" Dunlop racing wheels and road spec tires. Currently, there is a race prepared 4.2-liter Jaguar 6 Cylinder Engine with triple Weber 45DCOE side draught carburetors producing 325 bhp installed. A fresh 3.8 Liter Engine is available as an alternative and will be installed at no charge if desired. 5 Speed Manual Gearbox, Sabelt Harnesses, and a VA Engineering Roll Cage complete the appearance and reality of a very exciting car. After spending time in Germany, England and The Netherlands, This E-type was imported to the USA in April 2003. It was not raced but rather took a position in a small private collection until now.
