The Color is Porsche 'Guards Red' by Sikkens.
It's a two-door hardtop with
Gray Leather and Tweed Interior.
I purchased it as a Rust Free Unhit Car in 1982.
It Was Off-the-frame Restored in 1990,
But Has Less Than 1,200 Miles On It Today.
The Engine is a ZZZ Crate Motor With
S&P's Polished Tuned-Port Fuel Injection Unit
Bought from Street and Performance in Mena, AR.
Mark Campbell Himself Delivered It To Me Personally.
The Transmission Is a Short-shaft Turbo-350 Automatic.
It Has Power Disc Brakes and a
605 Power Steering Box.
The Car Won 1st Place 'Trailered Custom'
at the Classic Chevy International National Meet
in Orlando Shortly After It Was Completed.
It would Cost Over $100,000 To
Duplicate This Build Today.
Think about what it takes to Completely Disassemble a Car,
Strip and Refinish the Chassis,
Completely Rebuild the Suspension,
Add Dropped Spindles, Add Power Disc Brakes ,
Mount the Body on a Rotisserie and
Completely Strip It to Bare Metal Top and Bottom,
Properly Prep the Metal and
Begin Coating It With Very Expensive Sikkens Products
(the brand used by Porsche).
First you apply the acid etch primer,
then you apply several coats of two part
high-build primer and block it.
Prime and block several times till
the body is laser straight after which
you apply several top coats of
Porsche Guards Red Paint.
Finally you wet sand and buff to a final finish
(the British call this flattening)
which removes all the texture from the surface.
In the meantime you send out all the chrome parts
to be redone and
all the stainless trim to be straightened and polished.
In the meantime the instruments
are sent off to be restored.
Now when you have reassembled the car
with new glass,
the Interior is Redone with Aircraft Quality Leather
and Tweed and
Mercedes Carpet Material.
A new ZZZ 350 Chevrolet Engine Topped
