1952 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Coupe
1952 Lincoln Cosmopolitan - Coupe
Awesome
Panamerican "Road Race Champions"
According to Archives: "Nothing changes the image of an automobile faster than racing victories, and that's exactly what Lincoln accomplished with dominations in the grueling International Panamerican and Mexican, World Road Race s of 1952. The newly introduced 1952 Lincoln Cosmo Coupes took the first (5) five places in World International Races of 1952, which were held in Mexico. Thanks to taut new suspension and powerful overhead valve, 317 C.I.D,cast iron-alloy V8 engines. Which were the first introduced by Lincoln. These rugged road killers were exceptionally strong cars, made of high quality American Old Henry steel, with 123 inch wheel bases, factory ridged, cross members, with steel boxed frames & special reinforced welded H/D steel bodies, double reinforced door panels, factory welded reinforced steel floors, with inside front floor steel encased battery box."
This car has been professionally updated to 12 volt
battery & electric system,
factory independent suspension with
dual torsion stabilizer bars, eight leaf rear springs,
12 inch massive brake drums,
eleven quart H/D radiator.
They proved very capable,
when taking on the best of America, Europe
and the auto world.
They beat them all.
For instance, in 1952 Chuck Stevenson finished
the grinding 2,000 miles of challenging roads from
Tuxtla to Juarez Mexico,
finished an hour in front of the Ferraris that had
been the International Road Race winners in 1951!
Whether by accident or design,
Lincoln created a new kind of awesome American car,
with very special high performance and
international race-winning capabilities.
