In its time, the Auburn was known for its advanced engineering, performance, and beautiful style. The rich and famous from all over the world owned these cars; they were a symbol of success. This one-owner fiberglass bodied Auburn was factory-built in 1981 by California Custom Coach of Pasadena, CA. Details: Exterior: The body was mounted on a fabricated Ford LTD frame with a new cross member and side rails. Paint is original done in lacquer. Car was completely disassembled when painted. Chrome is in great condition with both sides of bumpers done as well as the brackets. The firewall is chrome. The finish has some minor scratches and discoloration, but looks great for a 30 year old car. Full Convertible Top with side curtains Interior: The custom interior is in excellent condition. It was recently upgraded with buckets seats replacing the original bench seat (available with the car). The dash is fitted with beautiful burl wood inserts, classic instruments and an AM/FM Stereo Cassette player and chrome heater underneath. Power steering, power front disc brakes and a tilt steering column and wheel round out the comfortable interior. Engine and Driveline: Power is by a Ford 429 cu. in. 330 HP engine with a Ford C6 automatic transmission. The Ford 8.8 in. rear end is equipped with a 4.3:1 ratio gear set. Suspension is courtesy of a full-size Ford LTD. NEW 23 gal. gas tank and 2 1/2" exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. Wheels and Tires are True Spoke Wire wheels with Auburn hub caps and wide whitewalls. This car is fun to drive, handles beautifully and is a real "head turner".
